Y Todo Lo Que Hagáis Hacedlo De Corazon

Y Todo Lo Que Hagáis Hacedlo De Corazon

Ever heard that saying, “Y todo lo que hagáis, hacedlo de corazón”? Yeah, me too. Constantly. It basically means "Whatever you do, do it from the heart."

Sounds lovely, right? All sunshine and rainbows. But I have a confession. I think it’s… overrated.

Heart vs. Hustle

Look, I'm not saying be a soulless robot. I'm just saying sometimes, the heart's a terrible project manager. Imagine building a house fueled only by passion. It'd be all turrets and no toilets.

Sometimes you just need to show up, do the thing, and get it done. Even if your heart’s more interested in binge-watching cat videos.

The Dishes Dilemma

Let's talk about dishes. Do I feel like washing them? Absolutely not. My heart yearns for a nap. But guess what? Those dishes aren’t going to magically clean themselves.

So, I slap on some upbeat music and scrub away. Heart not involved. Just good, old-fashioned elbow grease. The result? A sparkling sink and a slight sense of accomplishment (even if my heart still wants that nap).

And honestly, is a heart-felt dishwashing experience even desirable? Imagine weeping dramatically over a crusty lasagna pan. No thanks.

The Email Enigma

Emails. Mountains of them. Do I feel like answering them all with heartfelt sincerity? Again, a resounding no. Especially the ones from Brenda in HR about mandatory team-building exercises.

Sometimes, a simple “Received, thanks!” is enough. My heart may not be in it, but my keyboard definitely is.

The "Doing it Anyway" Revolution

I propose a revolution. A "doing it anyway" revolution. A revolution where we acknowledge that sometimes, the heart needs a vacation.

A revolution where we allow ourselves to be… practical. Gasp! I know. Controversial. But hear me out.

Think of all the amazing things you could accomplish if you weren't constantly waiting for your heart to give you permission. The books you could write. The businesses you could start. The taxes you could… finally file.

Now, I’m not advocating for cold, calculating behavior. Kindness is still cool. Empathy is essential. Just saying, maybe dial down the "heart-first" approach sometimes.

The Art of the Strategic Skip

Learn to strategically skip the heart. Identify the tasks that don't require a soul-baring emotional investment. Then, tackle them with efficiency and a healthy dose of detached pragmatism.

Folding laundry? Heart optional. Balancing your checkbook? Definitely heart-free zone. Responding to Brenda's team-building email? "Looking forward to it!" (Said with absolutely no sincerity whatsoever).

My Unpopular Opinion: Heart's Optional

So, here it is. My unpopular opinion: Heart's optional. At least some of the time. Maybe even… most of the time?

Don't get me wrong. Passions are important. Dreams are vital. But sometimes, just doing the darn thing is even more important. Especially when that "thing" involves cleaning the bathroom. I'm pretty sure my heart would actively sabotage that endeavor.

Y todo lo que hagáis, hacedlo de corazón, como para el Señor y no para

Maybe “Y todo lo que hagáis, hacedlo…efficiently” is a more realistic motto for modern life. Or maybe I'm just justifying my inherent laziness. Who knows?

But seriously, give your heart a break. It’s probably tired. And maybe a little bit dramatic.

Focus on getting things done. The satisfaction you get from a completed task might just warm your heart anyway. Even if it wasn't involved in the first place.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a mountain of laundry calling my name. And my heart is nowhere to be found.

Wish me luck (and maybe send chocolate). I have a feeling I'm going to need it.
