Vegan Skincare Retinol And Vitamin C Face Essence

Vegan Skincare Retinol And Vitamin C Face Essence

Okay, let's talk faces. Specifically, the stuff we smear all over them in the name of beauty. You know, the potions, the creams, the…essences.

Vegan Skincare: Seriously, Does My Face Know the Difference?

Full disclosure: I love animals. I really do. But sometimes, I think my face is blissfully unaware if its moisturizer was derived from a happy almond or a lab somewhere. Vegan skincare is HUGE right now. And that's great! Good for the planet, good for the bunnies. But here's my unpopular opinion: a well-formulated product is a well-formulated product. My skin cares about results, not politics (or, you know, botany).

I've tried the fancy vegan stuff. I've tried the not-so-vegan stuff. And honestly? Some of the best stuff I've used involved a tiny bit of bee byproduct. Don’t @ me!

The avocado oil trend was good, I'll admit that. Spreadable toast and spreadable face stuff? Count me in.

Retinol: The Exfoliating Overachiever

Ah, Retinol. The golden child of the skincare world. Everyone raves about it. It's supposed to erase wrinkles, banish acne, and make you look like you're Benjamin Button-ing your way backwards through time. Right?

Except, for me? It usually just makes me peel. Like a snake shedding its skin. Attractive, I know. I get that Retinol is potent. I understand it's science-y. But I also understand that my face looking like a flaky croissant isn’t my ideal look.

Do I still use it? Sometimes. Very, very carefully. Like handling a tiny, angry dragon. A dab here, a dab there. Mostly, I just admire it from afar. I admire people who can slather it on with reckless abandon. I assume they’re secretly robots.

And the purging! Oh, the purging. It's like your face is finally clearing out its junk drawer. Except the junk drawer is all pimples. A delightful experience for everyone involved.

Vitamin C Face Essence: Am I Just Spritzing Fancy Orange Juice?

Okay, let's be real. The term "face essence" sounds incredibly pretentious. Like something Marie Antoinette would have used to keep her skin glowing before, you know, the whole guillotine thing. But it's basically just a super-lightweight serum, right?

And Vitamin C? We all know it's good for us. Oranges! Immune systems! Brighter skin! But sometimes, I feel like I’m just spraying overpriced orange juice on my face. Does it actually do anything? I’m never quite sure.

I want to believe. I really do. I want to believe that this tiny bottle of clear liquid is fighting free radicals and fading dark spots and generally making me look ten years younger. But the evidence is…elusive.

It does smell nice, though. Like a citrus grove in a bottle. Maybe that's the point. Maybe it's just aromatherapy disguised as skincare. I'm okay with that.

I do know that using Vitamin C serum keeps my skin texture in check, and the added moisture from face essence is always welcomed. The most important thing is consistency. So I make sure I don't skip my face essence.

One time, I did try making my own Vitamin C serum. It went brown within a day. I'm sticking to store-bought from now on.

So, there you have it. My mildly controversial (and probably wildly uninformed) opinions on the skincare trends of the moment. Take it with a grain of Himalayan pink salt (also good for your skin, apparently!).

The real secret to good skin? Sleep. Water. And maybe a good filter on your phone.

What works for you might not work for me, and that's perfectly fine. We're all just trying to navigate the confusing world of skincare without turning into giant, flaky messes. Good luck out there!
