Seriously, consider their training. They have to know the layout of the entire store. They have to be customer service experts. They have to be able to troubleshoot malfunctioning self-checkout machines (a modern-day nightmare). They have to be able to diffuse tense situations with a calm demeanor and a well-placed coupon.

And let’s not forget the dreaded returns. The land of mismatched receipts, questionable hygiene products, and explanations that defy logic. The TSETL handles it all with grace (or at least, tries to).
