Subnautica Man's Best Friend

Subnautica Man's Best Friend

Let's talk Subnautica. Gorgeous, terrifying, and utterly addictive. You’re stranded. Giant fish want to eat you. And you’re constantly running out of oxygen. Fun, right?

But something’s missing. Something furry. Something with a wagging tail (even underwater!). Yes, I'm talking about dogs.

The Subnautica Pet-Shaped Hole

Don't get me wrong. I love Peeper. They're cute little fish. And Mesmers are… well, mesmerizing (until they bite your face off). But none of them are quite the same as having a loyal companion by your side.

Imagine this: you're exploring a dark, spooky wreck. A Reaper Leviathan screams in the distance. You're scared. But then, you see him. Spot (or whatever you’d name him). He’s a genetically engineered, waterproof dog. Tail wagging. Ready to face the deep with you.

Suddenly, the Reaper doesn't seem so scary. You've got backup! He probably couldn't fight it, but the moral support is invaluable. Plus, imagine the cute factor of a dog wearing a little diving helmet!

But… Realism!

Okay, okay. I hear you. Subnautica is about survival. About facing the unknown. About the delicate balance of an alien ecosystem. Adding dogs might break the immersion. I get it.

But come on! We can build nuclear reactors and teleportation devices. Surely, we can create a slightly-less-realistic, waterproof dog. Maybe it's a robotic dog? Or a bioluminescent, genetically modified creature resembling a dog?

The point is, Subnautica is already pretty fantastical. A little canine companionship wouldn’t hurt. It might even make things more interesting. Think of the gameplay possibilities!

Gameplay Perks of a Subnautica Pup

Need help finding resources? Train your dog! He could sniff out rare minerals or even alert you to nearby dangers. Lost in a cave system? Follow your furry friend back to the entrance.

Feeling lonely? Just cuddle with your dog! Reduce your stress levels and improve your overall mental health. Because let's face it, being stranded on an alien planet can be a bit taxing.

Plus, imagine the customization options! Different breeds, different fur colors, even different outfits! My dream? A little husky wearing a tiny Sea Truck-themed harness.

My (Possibly) Unpopular Opinion

I know some people will disagree. They'll say that adding dogs would ruin the game's atmosphere. That it's unrealistic and unnecessary.

But I stand by my belief: Subnautica needs dogs. It needs the unconditional love and unwavering loyalty that only a dog can provide.

Think about it. What's the first thing many people do when they survive a disaster in real life? They find their pets. Because pets are family.

And in a game where you're completely alone, surrounded by terrifying creatures, a little bit of family would go a long way.

So, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, if you're listening: Please, consider adding dogs to Subnautica. Make my dream (and I suspect, the dreams of many others) come true.

I'm not saying it has to be a golden retriever specifically. But something dog-like. Something loyal. Something to cuddle with when the Ghost Leviathans get a little too close. A Subnautica man's best friend.

Because let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want a dog on an alien planet?
