Stepping Into My 60th Birthday With God's Grace And Mercy

Okay, friend, let’s talk! Sixty. The big SIX-OH. It’s looming, it’s landed, maybe it’s even a distant memory for you! For me? Well, it's right here, right now! And honestly? I’m stepping into it with a whole lot of God’s grace and mercy… and maybe a little bit of denial. Just a sprinkle! 😉
Seriously though, hitting this milestone birthday has been a real trip. It’s that moment where you stop and think, “Wow, half a century plus a decade… that’s…a lot of years!” I mean, I still feel 25 inside, especially when attempting TikTok dances (don’t judge!). But my knees? My knees are definitely saying otherwise.
But here’s the thing: instead of dwelling on wrinkles and creaky joints (though, yes, I do have a fantastic new wrinkle cream I can recommend!), I’m choosing to focus on the amazing journey it’s been so far. And the even more amazing journey that's still to come, God willing!
Must Read
Looking Back With Gratitude
One thing I’ve been doing a lot of lately is reflecting. Remembering the good times, the tough times, the absolutely ridiculous times (there were a few of those, for sure!). Each experience, each challenge, each joy, has shaped me into the person I am today. And I actually like that person! Even the slightly-more-wrinkled version.
I think what I'm most grateful for is the unwavering presence of God in my life. Through thick and thin, He’s been my rock, my comfort, and my constant source of hope. There have been times when I’ve stumbled, times when I’ve questioned, times when I’ve flat-out messed up. But His grace? It’s always been there, a safety net to catch me when I fall. Thank you, Lord!

And the mercy? Oh, the mercy! Let’s just say I’m eternally grateful for do-overs and second chances. (And third, fourth, and fifth…you get the picture!). Who knew that messing up could lead to so much growth? God's ways are truly mysterious, aren't they?
Embracing the Future with Faith
So, what does sixty and beyond look like? Well, I’m not entirely sure! And that's okay! I’m learning to embrace the unknown and trust that God has a plan, even if I can’t see it yet. I’m also planning on learning to play the ukulele. Wish me luck!
I'm definitely looking forward to spending more time with loved ones, traveling (when it's safe to do so, of course!), and pursuing passions that I’ve put on the back burner for far too long. Maybe I’ll finally write that novel I’ve been dreaming about! Or learn to speak Italian! Or just master the art of napping. The possibilities are endless!

And most importantly, I want to continue to grow in my faith and use my life to make a positive impact on the world, however big or small that impact may be. I'm a firm believer that it's never too late to make a difference.
I'm also investing in comfortable shoes. Seriously, people, comfy shoes are a MUST at this age. Trust me on this one.

A Little Bit of Wisdom (Okay, Maybe Just a Rambling Thought)
If I could offer one piece of advice as I enter this new decade, it would be this: don’t be afraid to embrace your age! Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Be authentic. Be grateful. Be kind. And for goodness sake, wear sunscreen!
Remember to laugh – often! Life’s too short to take everything so seriously. Find joy in the simple things. Spend time in nature. Tell your loved ones how much you appreciate them. And always, always trust in God’s unwavering love and grace.
So here’s to sixty! To wrinkles earned, lessons learned, and a whole lot of love and laughter still to come. May God continue to bless us all with His amazing grace and unending mercy. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find that ukulele…
