Sensible Hue Sherwin Williams

Sensible Hue Sherwin Williams

Let's talk paint. Not just any paint. We're diving headfirst into the fascinating, slightly beige-tinted world of Sherwin-Williams. Specifically, a color that seems to pop up everywhere: Sensible Hue.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Sensible Hue? Sounds...sensible." And you're right! It's the Switzerland of paint colors. Neutral. Agreeable. The color your mother-in-law will probably compliment.

Is Sensible Hue...Too Sensible?

Okay, unpopular opinion time. Sensible Hue is...fine. It's a nice, safe choice. Like ordering vanilla ice cream. Or watching a rom-com. Nothing wrong with it! But is it exciting? Does it make your heart sing? Does it inspire you to, I don't know, write poetry on your walls? Probably not.

I feel like Sensible Hue is the wall color equivalent of saying "live, laugh, love." It's pleasant. Inoffensive. Maybe even a little...predictable.

My problem isn’t with the color itself. It’s with how ubiquitous it is. Open any home decor magazine, browse Pinterest, scroll through Instagram...bam! Sensible Hue. It's like it's part of a secret society of beige-adjacent paint colors, quietly taking over the world, one perfectly-staged living room at a time.

Don't get me wrong. There’s a place for neutrals. I'm not advocating for painting every room in your house neon orange. But sometimes, I crave a little...oomph. A little pizazz. A little personality.

The Beige Rebellion

I'm not saying we all need to embrace the boldest, craziest colors imaginable. But maybe, just maybe, we can break free from the tyranny of Sensible Hue. There are SO many other paint colors out there! Shades of green that evoke lush forests. Blues that remind you of the ocean. Even other, slightly less sensible, shades of beige!

Think of it this way: Sensible Hue is the little black dress. Always appropriate, always stylish. But sometimes, you want to wear a sequined jumpsuit. Or a bright red blazer. You want to make a statement! Your walls deserve the same consideration.

I imagine a world where people are a little braver with their color choices. A world where living rooms are painted in shades of lavender and kitchens are a vibrant turquoise. A world free from the beige-y clutches of Sensible Hue.

But...It's Easy!

I get it. Sensible Hue is easy. It goes with everything. You don't have to think too hard about it. It's the path of least resistance. And sometimes, that's exactly what you need. Especially if you are about to put your house on the market.

But maybe, just maybe, the next time you're standing in front of the Sherwin-Williams paint chips, take a deep breath. Close your eyes. And pick something...different. Something that makes you smile. Something that reflects your personality. Something that isn't Sensible Hue.

After all, it's just paint! You can always repaint it. (Probably with Sensible Hue. Just kidding... mostly.)

“The paint is not the most important thing. It is the brushwork that counts." - Famous painter who probably never used Sensible Hue.

So, let the beige rebellion begin! One slightly-less-sensible wall at a time. What's the most "out there" color you've painted a room? I'm dying to know!
