The "Portfolio Perfection" Myth
Okay, let's be real. A stunning portfolio is important. No argument there.
But does a flashy Dribbble account automatically equal a bigger paycheck? I'm skeptical.
Showcasing your skills is one thing. Actually delivering results, solving complex problems, and mentoring junior designers? That's where the real value lies.
A portfolio of beautiful UI mockups is nice. A portfolio showcasing how you increased conversion rates by 20%? That's gold.
The Negotiation Game is Real
Here's the thing nobody really talks about: negotiation. Your salary isn't just handed to you on a silver platter.
You have to ask for what you're worth! Research the market. Know your value.

And be prepared to walk away. Because sometimes, the offer just isn't worth it. Believe in yourself!
Don't be afraid to negotiate for more than just salary. Benefits, stock options, professional development opportunities – they all add up.
The Reality Check: My (Slightly) Cynical Take
So, where does that leave us? Should we ignore those salary reports entirely? Not necessarily.
They can provide a general benchmark. A starting point for your research.
But take them with a grain of salt. A big grain of salt. Like, maybe the whole salt shaker.
Focus on developing your skills. Building a solid portfolio that showcases your impact. And knowing your worth.

Because ultimately, your Senior UX Designer salary is about more than just industry averages. It's about your individual value. Your unique contributions.
