Samsung Galaxy Book Boot Menu

Samsung Galaxy Book Boot Menu

Okay, so you need to get into the boot menu on your Samsung Galaxy Book? No sweat! It happens to the best of us. Maybe you're trying to reinstall Windows, maybe you’re messing with partitions (careful!), or maybe you just want to see what options are even there. Whatever the reason, let's get you booted into that magical menu.

First things first, let's talk about the dreaded timing. Seriously, why is it always so darn tricky? It's like the computer knows you're trying to do something cool and decides to be difficult. You'll need to press a key, or a combination of keys, at just the right moment during startup. Miss it, and BAM! Back to Windows you go. We've all been there, trust me.

The Usual Suspects (Keys, That Is)

So, what keys are we talking about? On most Samsung Galaxy Books, you're looking at either the F2 key, the F12 key, or the Esc key. Yup, that's right. It's a guessing game! Sometimes it's even the Delete key! I know, frustrating, right? But don’t worry, we’ll figure it out.

The key is to start pressing the key almost immediately after you power on your Galaxy Book. Like, immediately. Don’t even wait for the Samsung logo to fully appear. Spam that key! Spam it like your life depends on it! Okay, maybe not that dramatically, but you get the idea.

Pro-Tip: If you're using an external keyboard, make sure it's plugged in before you power on the Galaxy Book. Sometimes the computer is picky about when it recognizes external devices.

What If That Doesn’t Work?

Alright, so you’ve spammed every F key from F1 to F12, and you’re still stuck booting into Windows. Don't panic! We have a backup plan (or two!).

Sometimes, the Fast Startup feature in Windows can interfere with accessing the boot menu. Basically, it speeds up the boot process by putting the computer into a deeper hibernation state. Which is great, unless you’re trying to do something like, you know, access the boot menu.

Here's how to disable Fast Startup (at least temporarily):

  1. Go to the Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu).
  2. Click on Power Options.
  3. Click on "Choose what the power buttons do" (on the left side).
  4. Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (you might need to grant administrator permissions).
  5. Uncheck the box next to "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
  6. Click Save changes.

Now, try restarting your Galaxy Book and spamming those F keys again. Fingers crossed!

The Advanced Startup Option (Windows to the Rescue!)

If all else fails, Windows itself can help you get to the boot menu. Seriously! It's like Windows is saying, "Okay, okay, I get it. You want to mess around. I'll help you mess around."

Here's how:

  1. Open the Settings app (Windows key + I).
  2. Click on Update & Security.
  3. Click on Recovery.
  4. Under Advanced startup, click on Restart now.

Your Galaxy Book will restart into a special menu. From there, you should be able to navigate to Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> UEFI Firmware Settings. This option will take you directly to the boot menu!

So there you have it! A few different ways to wrangle your Samsung Galaxy Book into the boot menu. Hopefully, one of these methods works for you. And remember, don't be afraid to experiment (but maybe back up your data first, just in case!). Good luck, and happy booting!
