Saint Therese Senior Living Of New Hope

Saint Therese Senior Living Of New Hope

Okay, I’m just going to say it. And brace yourselves. This might be controversial. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Saint Therese Senior Living of New Hope is...dare I say it... more fun than my own apartment. Seriously!

Now, before you clutch your pearls and yell at your screen, hear me out. I’m not saying my place is a total dump. It's cozy. It has a certain... charm. (Mostly dust bunnies and mismatched socks, but still!) But when I peeked into Saint Therese the other day while volunteering, well, let’s just say my "charm" suddenly felt a little less charming.

My Unpopular Opinion: Age is Just a Number... and a Really Good Excuse for Bingo

First off, the activities calendar. Forget Netflix binging in my pajamas. They have Tai Chi! And crafting! And… wait for it… BINGO! Now, I know what you're thinking. Bingo? For old people? But let’s be real. Bingo is the ultimate game of chance. The anticipation! The suspense! The possibility of winning a prize that is probably a very nice (and possibly scented) hand lotion! That's excitement I haven't felt since I found a twenty in my old jeans. And at Saint Therese, they take their bingo very seriously. Like, championship-level serious.

And it’s not just bingo. They have happy hour. Yes, you read that right. Happy hour! My happy hour consists of microwaving popcorn and arguing with the cat over who gets the comfy spot on the couch. Theirs? Probably involved tiny sandwiches and the kind of gossip that would make even the Real Housewives blush. I’m just saying, sounds infinitely more interesting.

Food Glorious Food... and Someone Else Cooks It!

Let's talk food. I’m a big fan of cooking… in theory. In practice, it usually involves ordering takeout and convincing myself that pizza is a balanced meal. But at Saint Therese Senior Living? Three square meals a day. And get this: someone else makes them. No more deciphering complicated recipes or battling rogue spaghetti sauce. Just good, wholesome food, served with a smile. My stomach is already jealous.

And the social aspect! I spend most of my days talking to my plants (they’re surprisingly good listeners, by the way). But residents at Saint Therese are surrounded by other people. Real, live, breathing people! People to share stories with, to laugh with, to maybe even complain about the weather with. It’s a veritable social hub! A buzzing metropolis of senior citizenship! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but still. It sounds…nice.

The Perks of (Assisted) Living the Dream

Of course, there's the whole "assisted living" part. The fact that someone is there to help if you need it. The peace of mind knowing you're safe and cared for. I'm not quite ready to admit I need help remembering where I put my keys (it's usually on my head), but I can see the appeal.

So, yes, I stand by my unpopular opinion. Maybe, just maybe, Saint Therese of New Hope is secretly the most fun place to be. And if anyone needs me, I'll be practicing my bingo skills. I'm coming for that scented hand lotion!

Though, I suppose, there's something to be said for solitude, independence, and the joy of finding a perfectly good sock stuck to a stale pizza crust under the couch. That's my charm, after all. And besides, maybe those seniors secretly envy my ability to eat ice cream straight from the container at 3 am. The grass is always greener, right?

But still... that Tai Chi class sounds really nice.

And you never know, maybe Saint Therese is just the place to perfect your shuffleboard skills. A talent I desperately need to acquire.
