Pokemon Go Gen 2 Excel Spreadsheet

Okay, let's be honest. Remember Pokemon Go Gen 2? Good times, right?
Or... were they?
The Dark Side of Gen 2: Spreadsheets
I'm just going to say it. Gen 2 and the rise of the Excel spreadsheet are forever intertwined in my mind.
Must Read
And not in a good way.
It wasn't enough to just wander around catching Pokemon anymore.
Suddenly, everyone was obsessed with IVs (Individual Values) and DPS (Damage Per Second). Did you understand it all?
The Numbers Game Began
Suddenly, spreadsheets invaded our fun. Gone were the days of joyous exploration.
Now, you had to calculate attack, defense, and stamina. It felt like doing homework!
Forget about the joy of finding a rare Pokemon. Instead, it was: "What are its IVs? Is it worth the Stardust?"

And all the resources online! So overwhelming!
It's supposed to be a game, right?
I understand some people enjoy the min-maxing. I really do.
But for me, it sucked the fun right out of it.
The Unpopular Opinion: Embrace the Chaos!
Here's my controversial stance: I never used those spreadsheets. Not once.
Gasp! I know, I know.
I preferred the mystery, the randomness. The thrill of not knowing if that Tyranitar was a total dud.

That's part of the fun, right?
It's more exciting when you don't know the perfect moveset.
I mean, you battle gyms anyways.
Think about it. How many times did a perfectly optimized Pokemon still lose against something unexpected?
Exactly!
Sometimes, luck and timing are more important than perfect stats. Sometimes the enjoyment is in the journey, not the destination.

So, call me a casual. Call me uninformed. I don't care.
I had way more fun stumbling upon surprisingly powerful Pokemon than meticulously crafting a perfect team from a spreadsheet.
The joy of the Unexpected
I remember the time I caught a seemingly average Snorlax. It became my gym battle champion.
Turns out it was a beast. No spreadsheet could have predicted that.
That's the kind of experience I'm talking about. The unexpected victories, the surprising strengths.
The "good enough" Pokemon were enough.
Let the others spend hours crunching numbers. I'll be over here catching Pokemon and having fun.

Gen 2 Nostalgia... Sort Of
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate Gen 2 for what it was. New Pokemon, new evolutions.
But the obsessive need for optimization really dampened my experience.
Maybe that's just me. Maybe I'm a curmudgeon.
But I'd rather remember the joy of discovery than the stress of spreadsheets.
So, next time you're tempted to dive into a complex analysis, remember this: Sometimes, it's okay to just catch 'em all and have a good time.
Who's with me?
Let's keep it simple. Let's keep it fun. And let's leave the Excel spreadsheets where they belong: firmly on our computers, unopened.
