My First New Year Baby Boy Outfit 2022

My First New Year Baby Boy Outfit 2022

So, my little dude was a New Year's baby. 2022 to be exact. And you know what that means? Outfit pressure.

The outfit. Oh, the outfit.

The Great Outfit Debate

Everyone had an opinion, of course. Grandmas, aunties, even the neighbor down the street. "He needs something sparkly!" they’d declare.

"Something with 2022 on it!" Others would insist. Honestly, it was a lot.

The Sparkle Situation

Okay, I'm going to say it. Sparkle on baby boys? Unpopular opinion: not my thing. I know, I know, some people love it.

But tiny humans are already adorable. Do they really need sequins to amplify the cuteness? I rest my case.

Besides, glitter gets EVERYWHERE. I'm still finding glitter from Christmas 2018. I didn't want to usher in a new year of glitter chaos.

The "2022" Conundrum

And the "2022" outfits? Cute in theory, sure. But let's be real, he'd wear it for, like, a week. Maybe two, if we stretched it.

Then what? Stored in a box with all the other outgrown clothes? No thanks. Waste of money, in my humble opinion.

I was aiming for something reusable, practical, and preferably stain-resistant. Because, you know, baby.

My (Slightly Controversial) Choice

So, what did I choose? Prepare yourselves, because it's not particularly exciting. No fireworks involved.

I went with… a blue onesie. A plain, soft, blue onesie. Gasp! I know, shocking.

It wasn't just ANY blue onesie, mind you. It was super soft cotton. And it had little bear ears on the hood. Subtle, cute, and practical.

Plus, it could be worn again! And again! And again! It became his favorite for naps.

Practicality Over Pageantry

Listen, I get the desire for a special outfit. New Year's is a big deal. But for a newborn? Comfort is king (or, you know, prince).

He wasn't going to remember his first New Year's outfit. He was going to remember being warm, snug, and loved. That's what mattered to me.

Also, spit-up happens. A lot. Easier to clean a plain blue onesie than a sequined masterpiece.

The Aftermath

Did some people side-eye my choice? Absolutely. Did I care? Not even a little bit. My baby was comfy and happy.

He looked like a little blueberry bear. My heart was full. Case closed.

Besides, I added a touch of festive cheer! I bought him a New Year's themed bib. It had a tiny little clock on it. Progress!

A Lesson Learned (Maybe)

So, what's the moral of the story? Maybe it's that you should ignore unsolicited outfit advice. Maybe it's that babies look cute in anything.

Or maybe it's that I'm secretly a Grinch who hates sparkles. Who knows?

All I know is, my blue-onesie-clad baby rang in 2022 in style. Comfort style. And that's good enough for me.

Embrace the Simple Joys

Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing. The blue onesie was perfect. It was practical. It was comfortable. It was…him.

Sometimes, the best memories aren't about the extravagant details. They're about the simple moments of love and connection.

And maybe, just maybe, it's okay to prioritize comfort over flashiness. Especially when it comes to tiny humans.

So, if you're facing a similar outfit dilemma, remember my story. Don't be afraid to go against the grain. Choose what makes you and your little one happy.

Because at the end of the day, that's all that truly matters. Happy New Year!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I still have some glitter to clean up…
