Miles Kimball Personalized Letter From Santa And Ornament

Okay, confession time. Maybe I’m a grinch. Or perhaps just practical. We’re talking about Santa letters, specifically the personalized ones from Miles Kimball, and their accompanying ornament. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas. I just… have some thoughts.
First off, the letter. A personalized letter from Santa is a sweet idea. Really! Imagine a child’s face lighting up when they see their name mentioned. The possibilities are endless. But let's be honest. How personalized is it, really?
I have seen some personalized letters and they are more like a fill-in-the-blank. They ask for a child’s name, maybe their best friend. They also will be able to add one thing to the 'nice list'. Now, here is my thought, can Santa not know more than that? He watches us all year long!

And then, there's the handwriting. Let's call a spade a spade. Is it Santa’s handwriting? Or Brenda from accounting at the Miles Kimball headquarters? It is printed. It looks like a regular font. But it gets the job done. Right?
The Ornament: Shiny Object Distraction?
Now, onto the ornament. A cute little trinket to remember the year. A memento! Except… well, my tree is already overflowing with mementos. And let's face it. How many ornaments does one family really need? I have ornaments that were from my great-great grandma.

I have to admit, the ornament is pretty. But I am a purist. I like the tradition. We have had the same tradition for years. Maybe I will get one one day.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be a Scrooge. I just wonder if the money spent on a Miles Kimball Santa letter and ornament might be better directed. Maybe to a charity? Or that really cool LEGO set your kid has been eyeing? Just a thought.

Think about the reactions of a child seeing his name in a letter from Santa. That might be the ultimate gift. No fancy ornament is needed,
Experiences Over Things (Even Shiny Things)
Maybe it’s just me. But I think experiences are often more valuable than things. A day spent building a snowman, baking cookies, or reading Christmas stories together? Those memories last a lifetime. A personalized letter from Miles Kimball… might end up in the attic next to the ceramic elf collection. Okay, that's a little mean. But you get my point.

We all have different traditions. And there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone has the right to express and celebrate what is important to them.
Ultimately, the goal is to create joy and wonder during the holidays. And, hey, if a Miles Kimball letter and ornament does that for your family, then more power to you! Who am I to judge? I just might be slightly more cynical than the average elf.

But if you are going to do it. Start a new tradition. Add one every year and see how your kids react to that. They might remember it more than any letter or ornament!
So, am I the only one who thinks this? Are these letters a waste or are they worth it?
Merry Christmas, everyone! Even Brenda from accounting. 😉
