Or worse, what if it works too well? What if he becomes so obsessed with me that he starts following me around everywhere, serenading me with love songs at inopportune moments, and wearing matching outfits? That could get old fast.

But hey, no risk, no reward, right? And the potential reward – a slightly more attentive and affectionate boyfriend – is definitely worth the risk. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
