Jojo Bizarre Adventure Oc

Okay, let's talk about something near and dear to every JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fan's heart: Fan Characters. Or, as the cool kids call them, OCs.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Oh no, here comes another gatekeeper ranting about 'original' characters!" But relax. I'm not here to bash anyone's creativity. In fact, I low-key love them. Just… sometimes, they make me chuckle.

The Stand Naming Game

Let's start with the Stands. This is where things get interesting. Araki's musical references are legendary, right? But some OC Stands? Woah, Nelly! We go from Queen to... "Slightly Used Toaster Oven"? I'm exaggerating, of course. Mostly.

I get it. All the good band names are taken. It's tough! But maybe, just maybe, avoid naming your Stand after your favorite brand of laundry detergent. Unless, of course, its power is ultra-cleanliness. Then, full steam ahead!

And the powers? Let's just say some OCs have Stands that could probably defeat Made in Heaven with one hand tied behind their back. A Stand that can control time, space, reality, and has a really good singing voice? Bit much, don’t you think? Though, I admit, that singing voice bit is pretty cool.

My unpopular opinion? A slightly underpowered Stand with a really creative application is way more interesting than a god-tier Stand with a boring power.

The Backstory Bonanza

Oh, the backstories! Prepare for angst! Prepare for tragedy! Prepare for... everything you've already seen in JoJo, but amplified by eleven!

Look, I appreciate a character with depth. But does every JoJo OC really need to have lost their entire family in a bizarre accident orchestrated by a Stand user who was secretly a vampire with a grudge against their great-great-great-grandpappy? It's a little… crowded in the tragedy department, isn't it?

Maybe a little sunshine? A character who just wants to open a really good sandwich shop? A Stand that helps them perfectly slice tomatoes? Just spitballing here.

The "Related To" Roulette

Ah yes, the classic. The "My OC is totally related to Jotaro/Joseph/Giorno" trope. Look, I understand the appeal. It's a quick way to give your character some built-in credibility and connect them to the JoJo universe. But let's be honest, it's also a little… predictable.

What if, instead of being related to a main character, your OC was, I don't know, the eccentric neighbor of Koichi? Or the guy who sold Polnareff that cursed sword in Egypt? The possibilities are endless! Think outside the Joestar family box!

I'm not saying don't do it! Do whatever makes you happy! Just… maybe consider the implications. Does your OC really need to be Jotaro's long-lost cousin who can control mayonnaise? (Actually, now that I've said it, that sounds kind of amazing…)

The Unpopular Opinion (Again!)

This is the big one. Are you ready?

I think some of the "bad" JoJo OCs are actually… kind of amazing. Not in a "good" way, necessarily. But in a "so bad it's good" way. Like a train wreck you can't look away from. The sheer creativity, the audacity, the unbridled enthusiasm! It's beautiful!

I'm not advocating for deliberately making bad OCs. But I am saying, embrace the weirdness. Don't be afraid to be a little silly. And most importantly, have fun!

Because at the end of the day, that's what JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is all about: Fun. And maybe a little bit of absurdity. So go forth and create! Just maybe think twice before naming your Stand "Dish Soap Symphony." Though, if you DO, please let me know. I want to see what it does.

Seriously, though, the most important thing is to have fun with your OC. Don't let anyone tell you it's not good enough. Unless your Stand can rewrite reality. Then, maybe tone it down a bit.
