I Love Jesus But I Drink A Little Gladys

Okay, let's be honest. This might be a tad controversial.
I adore Jesus. Like, truly, deeply adore. But...I also enjoy a little Gladys now and then.
Don't gasp! Hear me out.
Must Read
Finding the Funny in Faith (and Flavored Water)
Maybe "Gladys" isn't actually Gladys. It's probably a sparkling water. Maybe it has a tiny bit of vodka. A tiny bit.
Let's just say it makes folding laundry slightly less agonizing. Okay, way less agonizing.
Look, faith is a beautiful thing. It's my rock, my comfort, my guide.
But life? Life can be...well, a dumpster fire sometimes. A sparkly, nicely scented dumpster fire, but a dumpster fire nonetheless.
Is It a Contradiction?
Some folks might raise an eyebrow. They might whisper about hypocrisy.

"You can't love Jesus and enjoy a little something-something!" they might exclaim dramatically.
I say, why not? Is needing a little relaxation incompatible with spirituality?
I certainly don't think so.
Jesus himself hung out with tax collectors and sinners. He turned water into wine, for crying out loud! (Okay, a slightly different context, I admit).
I'm pretty sure he wouldn't begrudge me a lightly flavored beverage after a long day of wrangling toddlers or battling spreadsheets.
My Two Cents (and Maybe a Lime Wedge)
Maybe it's about finding balance. Maybe it's about knowing your limits.

Maybe it's about realizing that being a good person doesn't mean being a perfect person.
I strive to be kind, compassionate, and helpful. I try to live by the teachings of Christ. That's the important stuff.
A little bubbly water with a dash of elderflower syrup isn't going to derail my spiritual journey.
It might actually make it a little more enjoyable.
It's About Grace, Not Guilt
The key, for me, is not feeling guilty. Not beating myself up over enjoying small pleasures.
Grace. That's a word that resonates with me.

Giving myself grace to be human. Giving others grace to be imperfect.
And maybe, just maybe, giving myself grace to sip on a little "Gladys" while watching reality TV.
"Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone..." -Jesus, probably not talking about sparkling water, but still relevant.
I'm not throwing any stones. And I hope you aren't either.
Because honestly? We all need a little something to help us cope sometimes.
Embrace the Imperfect
Life isn't black and white. It's a swirling kaleidoscope of colors and contradictions.
It's loving Jesus with all your heart and occasionally needing a break from the chaos.

It's being a flawed human being, trying your best, and maybe giggling over a silly little secret.
So, raise your glass (or your sparkling water bottle) to embracing the imperfect.
To finding joy in the little things. And to loving Jesus while also loving a little something else.
Cheers to that!
I'm going to go refill my glass now...
Don't judge!
