Ffxiv When Do You Lose Sprout

Ffxiv When Do You Lose Sprout

Alright, gather 'round, ye weary travelers and seasoned veterans! Let's talk about the most important status effect in Final Fantasy XIV: the glorious, the coveted, the slightly-too-big-for-your-head... the Sprout!

You know, that little green leaf icon that sits beside your name, proudly proclaiming to the world, "Hey! I'm new! Please be nice to me… or at least don't yell too loudly when I inevitably pull the entire dungeon." We've all been there. (Except maybe those guys who claim to have perfectly soloed Titan on their first try. We don't talk about those guys.)

So, When Does the Sprout Wither Away?

The burning question! The one that keeps even veteran Warriors of Light up at night (probably alongside worrying about their Glamour). The answer, my friends, is... it depends! dun dun DUN!

Okay, okay, don’t get your chocobo feathers in a twist. It depends on how you qualify! Essentially, you lose the sprout after you:

  • Complete the entire main scenario questline (MSQ) including every patch quest up to the latest expansion.
  • Accumulate 300 hours of playtime.

The sprout disappears automatically when either of these conditions is met. But... wait for it... there's a twist (because what fun is life without a good twist, right?).

Even after your Sprout status vanishes into the aether, you can get it back! You can become a Returner again if you haven't completed the latest expansion of the main story and haven't played for 45 days.

You can then become a mentor and start taking sprouts under your wing! Or, you can use that knowledge to bully them. I mean, help them strategize. Definitely strategize. Okay?

300 Hours?! That's Like, A Whole Lot of Chocobo Racing!

Yep. 300 hours is a hefty chunk of time. Think of it as roughly 12 and a half days spent entirely within Eorzea. That’s enough time to knit a sweater out of moogle fur, learn the entire lyrics to every bard song, and still have time left over to ponder the existential dread of being a sentient potato (looking at you, Lalafell).

Seriously though, if you're not rushing through the MSQ (and why would you? It's amazing!), you'll likely hit the 300-hour mark long before you finish the main story.

MSQ Completion: The Long and Winding Road

This is the other way to lose your Sprout status. Complete the main scenario quests. Every. Single. One. All the way up through the most recent patch quests. I'm talking ARR, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, the whole enchilada!

And trust me, there are a lot of quests. You'll be fetching things for NPCs you'll barely remember, battling primals that make your keyboard tremble, and witnessing cutscenes that will tug at your heartstrings (and maybe make you question your life choices, but that's a story for another time).

The Sprout is Gone! Now What?

So, the day has come. Your Sprout has withered. The green leaf is no more. Don't panic! This is a good thing. It means you've conquered a significant portion of the game! You're no longer the wide-eyed newbie, but a (slightly) more seasoned adventurer.

Embrace the change! Go forth and mentor other sprouts (or, you know, just continue enjoying the game at your own pace). The world of Eorzea awaits! And remember, even without the sprout, you can always ask for help. Most players are genuinely happy to assist.

A Word of Warning (and a Little Joke)

Losing your Sprout doesn't automatically make you a pro. You'll still make mistakes. You'll still accidentally aggro that extra pack of mobs. You'll still fall off the edge of the Crystal Tower (we've all been there).

In fact, many veterans swear that the true sign of being an experienced FFXIV player is the ability to die in increasingly creative and embarrassing ways. So, embrace the chaos! Embrace the wipes! Embrace the fact that you'll probably accidentally pull the boss while trying to pet the Lalafell. It's all part of the fun!

Now, go forth and conquer! (Or, you know, just relax and fish. That's perfectly acceptable too.)
