Duplicate Items In Skyrim

Hey, you ever play Skyrim? Of course you have! Everyone's played Skyrim. Okay, maybe not everyone, but you get my drift. Anyway, let's talk about something near and dear to every true Dragonborn's heart: duplicating items. Ahem, I mean, totally unintentional glitches.
Look, let's be honest. We've all accidentally stumbled upon (or actively searched for) a way to clone that sweet, sweet Daedric armor, right? No judgement here! It's a single-player game! Who are we hurting? Maybe just our sense of accomplishment...nah!
The Classic Companion Caper
This one's a golden oldie. You know how it goes. You give your companion (Lydia, I'm looking at you!) a bunch of stuff. Maybe a little too much stuff. "I am sworn to carry your burdens," she says. More like, "I'm sworn to help you exploit the game's code for infinite loot!"
Must Read
So, here's the magic. Trade the item you want to duplicate to your companion. Then, tell them to do something – like, I don't know, attack a giant. While they're distracted, open the container where the item originally was. BOOM! It's still there! And now Lydia has a copy too! It's practically wizardry!
I mean, sure, it feels a little bit like cheating. But is it really cheating when the game lets you do it? Food for thought, right?

The Plate & Platter Plunder
This one's a bit trickier and requires a certain, shall we say, dexterity. You need a wooden plate or platter (preferably one that doesn't clip through everything) and something you want to steal/duplicate. Like a ridiculously expensive gem. Or maybe all the cheese wheels in Whiterun. No comment.
Okay, here's the setup. Hold the plate/platter. Shove it against the object you want to snag. Then, and this is the crucial part, clip through the wall or object using the plate as a conduit. Sometimes it takes a few tries, and you'll end up looking like you're headbutting a table, but trust me, it's worth it!

If you do it right, you'll be able to grab the item through the wall. And if you drop it on the other side...guess what? There's still one on the original side! Double the fun! Double the septims! Is this ethical? Debatable. Is it hilarious? Absolutely!
The Mannequin Mania
Oh, mannequins. Those silent, creepy sentinels of your armory. Did you know they're also expert duplicators? It’s true! And somewhat terrifying, if you really think about it.
Equip your mannequin with the armor you want to clone. Then, leave the cell (go outside, fast travel, whatever). When you come back, sometimes – and I stress sometimes because this glitch is notoriously finicky – the armor will be back in your inventory. And the mannequin will still be wearing it!

It's like the mannequin is saying, "Oh, you wanted two sets of Daedric armor? Here you go. Don't ask me how I did it. I'm a mannequin. I have no mouth, and I must scream...from the sheer amount of armor I'm wearing." Spooky, right?
The trick is patience, apparently. And maybe sacrificing a sweetroll to the gods of glitches. Who knows? It might help.

A Word of (Slightly Insincere) Warning
Okay, okay. I know what you're thinking. "This is awesome! I'm going to duplicate everything!" And you know what? Go for it! But...maybe don't go too crazy. I mean, if you have infinite gold and infinite dragon bones, the game might get a little boring, right? Maybe.
Plus, constantly exploiting glitches can sometimes mess with your game. I'm not saying it will, but it could. So, save often! And maybe back up your saves! Just in case those mischievous mannequins decide to rebel.
Ultimately, it's your Skyrim experience. Play it how you want! Just remember, with great power (of duplication) comes great responsibility (to not break your game entirely). Happy glitching!
