Unpopular opinion alert: While both books are terrible, "Mein Kampf" is arguably more dangerous because it provides the 'justification' for widespread genocide.

Fascists generally supported private property, but under strict state control. Basically, you can own a business, but the government tells you what to do.

Nazis were a bit more…hands-on with the economy. They seized property from Jewish people and others they deemed "undesirable."

Regarding society, both ideologies were intensely patriarchal. Women were expected to be mothers and homemakers. No career aspirations allowed.

Both regimes were masters of propaganda. Think catchy slogans, massive rallies, and constant brainwashing.

They also heavily indoctrinated young people. They basically turned them into mini-Fascists and mini-Nazis. It's as scary as it sounds.

Another potentially unpopular opinion: The scariest part is how easily people can be swayed by powerful rhetoric, regardless of the ideology.

Fascist Italy wanted to restore the glory of the Roman Empire. They invaded Ethiopia and dreamed of controlling the Mediterranean.

Nazi Germany had even grander (and more terrifying) ambitions. They wanted to conquer all of Europe and establish a "thousand-year Reich."

Both ideologies led to devastating wars and unimaginable suffering. Millions died as a result of their twisted visions.

The Holocaust

Here's where the distinction becomes chillingly clear: the Holocaust. The systematic extermination of six million Jews by the Nazis.

While Fascist Italy also enacted anti-Jewish laws, their policies were not as extreme or systematic as those of Nazi Germany. The scale of the Nazi genocide is unique.

Unpopular and depressing truth: Human beings are capable of unspeakable acts of cruelty. We must never forget this.

Final Round: So, What’s the Difference?

Think of Fascism as authoritarianism on steroids. It prioritizes the state above all else and crushes dissent.

Nazism is Fascism with a heavy dose of racial hatred and a genocidal agenda. It's pure evil, plain and simple.
