Adding A Second Ac Unit To Rv

Adding A Second Ac Unit To Rv

Let's talk RVs. Those rolling homes on wheels, packed with adventure (and sometimes questionable plumbing). Now, I'm going to say something that might be a little… controversial. Okay, maybe a lot controversial.

Ready? Deep breath.

I think every RV should have two air conditioners.

There, I said it. Let the debates begin! I can already hear the gasps. "But the expense!" someone cries. "The extra weight!" another wails. "The poor generator!" yet another laments. I get it. I truly do.

But hear me out. We've all been there, right? Stuck in some amazing national park. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The only problem? It's hotter than Hades. You’re sweating just thinking about stepping outside. The single AC unit is chugging away, bless its little heart, but it's barely making a dent. It feels like you're living inside a lukewarm hairdryer.

This is where my Second AC Unit idea comes in. Imagine this: You walk into your RV. Ahhhh. A wave of cool air washes over you. Not just "less hot" air, but genuinely COLD air. You can feel your pores closing in relief. Your dog stops panting quite so dramatically. You can finally think clearly enough to decide what kind of beverage to grab from the fridge.

Pure bliss, right?

I know, I know. Some of you are picturing your electric bill doubling, your generator throwing a tantrum, and your RV sinking into the ground from all the extra weight. But let's be honest, are we really roughing it that much when we're in our RVs? We have beds, toilets, and probably a miniature ice maker. Adding a second AC unit is not really an extreme thing, right?

Think of it as an Investment

Think of a second AC unit as an investment in your sanity. In your relationships. In the overall enjoyment of your RVing experience. How many trips have been partially ruined by excessive heat? How many nights have you tossed and turned, dreaming of icebergs and snow cones?

My unpopular opinion is not about being wasteful. It's about being comfortable. It's about being able to fully enjoy the adventures you're already paying for. You're already hauling a house on wheels across the country. What's a little extra cool?

Plus, let's not forget the resale value. A RV with two AC units? That's a selling point, my friends! Think of all those potential buyers who, just like you, are secretly dreaming of escaping the heat.

Of course, there are practical considerations. You'll need to make sure your RV is wired for it. You'll probably need a more powerful generator. And yes, it will cost money. But when you're weighing the pros and cons, consider the cost of not being comfortable. Consider the cost of a miserable vacation. Consider the cost of listening to your spouse complain about the heat for the entire trip.

A Happy Camper is a Cool Camper

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference. But I firmly believe that a happy camper is a cool camper. And sometimes, that requires a little extra cooling power.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go crank up both of my AC units and enjoy a nice, frosty beverage. Don't hate me because I'm comfortable.

I know there's a lot of arguments on why it is a bad idea to add another AC unit. But let's be honest. We're talking about RVs. We're talking about comfort. And maybe, just maybe, we're talking about making a slightly ridiculous decision that will ultimately make us happier.

"Life is too short to sweat the small stuff... or the big, sweltering stuff!"
as my grandpa always says.

So, what do you think? Am I completely crazy? Or are you secretly nodding your head in agreement, dreaming of a future filled with icy breezes and perfectly chilled RV adventures?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments! But be warned, I'm sticking to my guns on this one. Two AC units is the way to go. End of discussion! (Just kidding... sort of).

And one last thing: remember to consult with a qualified RV technician before making any modifications to your electrical system. I don't want anyone blowing a fuse (literally or figuratively) because of my crazy idea.

Happy RVing (and may your air conditioning be ever in your favor)!
